Entrepreneur Night: A Legacy of Community-Driven Connections
The Spark That Made It Happen
Malcolm Gladwell writes about “capitalization” – how some individuals see untapped potential in their communities and create ways to realize it.
When Office Divvy and Ky Ekinci launched Entrepreneur Night in September 2011, it was exactly this kind of vision in action. Recognizing that our community was underserved in terms of business and entrepreneurship resources and access to each other, Ky set out to change that. Without his vision and initiative, there would be no Entrepreneur Night. What started as his vision became an event series by entrepreneurs, for entrepreneurs, while also serving as a learning ground where Ky taught Office Divvy’s Creative Fellows (interns) how to create events that make people feel truly connected and valued.
Every Event Tells a Story
Within our event recaps, each gathering tells its own story. Local business venues opened their doors, providing the perfect backdrop for authentic connections. The conversations that happened around our handcrafted soapbox (created by one of our own community members) led to unexpected collaborations, new client relationships, and discoveries of local businesses that people didn’t even know existed in our community. Each event, entrepreneurs would step up to answer that fundamental question: “Why does the world need your business?”
Real People, Real Connections
The magic of Entrepreneur Night has always been in these genuine 1:1 connections. No forced networking, no rigid agendas – just real entrepreneurs sharing challenges, opportunities, and solutions. Our archive of photos and videos captures thousands of these moments, preserved in our event recaps and YouTube channel.
